adidas TERREX hoodie made of SPINNOVA® fiber for stores

The adidas TERREX HS1 hoodie, released in February, will be available to consumers in the adidas online store and selected brick-and-mortar stores on July 15. Spinnova technology has been used in the production of the hoodie and at least 30 percent of the hoodie’s material is wood-based SPINNOVA® fibre. The hoodie is the first commercial product of the collaboration between adidas and Spinnova.

Adidas released the first product in collaboration with Spinnova four months ago: the adidas TERREX HS 1 hoodie, which has now arrived in stores. Spinnova technology has been used in the production of the mid-layer hoodie suitable for outdoor activities, and at least 30% of its material is wood-based SPINNOVA® fibre. You can buy the hoodie in the online store and in selected brick-and-mortar stores from July 15.

The unisex mid-layer garment is versatile: it is well suited for hiking trails, it can be wrapped inside the Hood for easy storage or even as a travel pillow. Several different sizes, genders and shapes have also been taken into account in the design of the hoodie. The unique colour of the Adidas TERREX HS1 hoodie comes from the material’s own colour, and because the material has not been dyed or bleached, less water than usual is used in the production of the hoodie compared to traditional dyeing processes.

– The Adidas TERREX HS 1 hoodie describes our goal to help pioneer companies, such as adidas, to bring versatile and high-performance products to the market that do not compromise on responsibility. We are excitedly waiting for consumers’ reception and feedback on the first commercial product made with adidas TERREX, as well as the continuation of our promising cooperation, says Spinnova CEO and co-founder Janne Poranen .

– Cooperation with Spinnova has been exciting and progressive. The Adidas TERREX HS 1 hoodie is a product that does not compromise on performance or style. Our collaboration is a step towards a future that is in balance with nature, adds adidas TERREX Business Director Carla Murphy .

Spinnova’s first commercial-scale factory is expected to be completed in Jyväskylä at the end of this year. Spinnova and its joint venture partner Suzano aim to reach a million-ton annual SPINNOVA® fibre production capacity within the next 10-12 years, offering international fashion brands a versatile and responsible textile fibre on a commercial scale.
