Beyond Body Measurement: How Esenca Sizing Built a Fit Management Platform

Esenca Sizing fit management platform for workwear and PPE programmes

Esenca Sizing has built the measurement infrastructure that workwear and PPE programmes have been missing, including body scans, glove sizing, footwear fitting, and a centralised operations framework to manage it all.

We started Esenca Sizing in February 2020 with a straightforward conviction: that the professional clothing industry deserved a measurement solution built for how organisations actually operate. This is not a consumer app that has been adapted for enterprise use. It is not a single-product tool that solves one sizing problem while leaving others untouched. A complete platform, scalable, and built from the ground up for the complexity of managing fit across large, distributed workforces.

Five years on, that conviction has shaped everything we have built. Today, Esenca Sizing offers measurement solutions across the entire body—body, hand, and foot—along with a centralised operation system that gives organisations the control they need to manage sizing at any scale. This journey is our story and our case for why complete measurement matters.

The Problem We Set Out to Solve

Poor fit in workwear and PPE is not a niche inconvenience. This is a structural inefficiency that most organisations have only recently learned how to deal with. Returns, exchanges, delayed onboarding, surplus inventory, and employees wearing garments that do not perform as designed — these costs are real, recurring, and almost entirely avoidable with the right measurement foundation. And beyond the operational impact, every unnecessary return, every discarded garment, every van dispatched for a fitting that could have been done remotely represents a sustainability cost that organisations are increasingly being asked to account for.

What made the problem persistent was not a lack of awareness. It was the absence of a practical, scalable alternative to traditional approaches: manual tape measures. self-reported sizes, generic size charts, and infrequent fitting sessions. These methods introduce variance at every stage of the process, and that variance shows up in procurement outcomes.

We built Esenca Sizing to close that gap—not for a single garment category but across the full range of items that professional clothing programmes need to size accurately.

A Complete Measurement Platform

The majority of sizing solutions on the market address a single measurement need. We built Esenca Sizing to address three – body, hand, and foot – because those are what professional clothing programmes actually require.

Body Measuring Solution

Our Body Measuring Solution enables body scans in under one minute, using a smartphone camera with no special equipment required. The scan captures the measurements needed to generate accurate size recommendations across garment types: outerwear, trousers, shirts, coveralls, jackets and much more.

The solution is designed for large-scale deployments. Employees can complete their scan independently, without a trained operator, making it viable for onboarding programmes across multiple sites and geographies simultaneously.

Hand Measuring Solution

Hand fit is one of the most commonly overlooked sizing problems in PPE procurement. A glove that is nominally the right size but does not fit the specific proportions of an individual’s hand compromises dexterity, grip, and protective performance.

Our Hand Measuring Solution provides precise hand measurements for gloves, protective handwear, and accessories. It is designed to integrate sizing charts, so procurement teams can move from measurement to recommendation without manual interpretation.

Foot Measuring Solution

Footwear fit in professional environments — safety boots, specialist footwear, and orthopaedic considerations carry both comfort and compliance implications. Our Foot Measuring Solution gives users a straightforward measurement process that identifies the right fit across boots, shoes, and footwear accessories.

Together, these three solutions mean that an organisation deploying Esenca Sizing can address body, hand, and foot measurements via a single platform with consistent data structures and a unified operational view.

Measurement is only half the problem. The other half is managing what you do with that data across a workforce of thousands, spread across sites, teams, and countries.

Fit Management Platform: The Layer Above Measurement

As our client base expanded to include organisations managing thousands of employees across complex, multi-site environments, it became clear that measurement technology alone was not sufficient. The data needed somewhere to reside, someone to own it, and a system to act on it.

The Fit Management Platform is our answer to that challenge. It is a central dashboard and CRM designed specifically for organisations that need to manage sizing at scale, not just capture it.

Organisational structure that mirrors reality

Professional clothing programmes rarely operate with flat structures. There are countries, regions, sites, departments, and individuals each with their own administrators, workflows, and compliance requirements. Our system allows organisations to mirror that hierarchy within the platform, with a multi-layer setup and granular permission controls at every level.

Automation and bulk workflows

Managing sizing for hundreds of employees one by one is not a viable operational model. The system supports bulk invitations by department, site, or list upload, automated size recommendations generated at scale, and batch actions for reassignments, updates, and reporting. The platform is designed for deployments with hundreds or thousands of users without the operational complexity growing proportionally with headcount.

Data ownership and privacy

In the Fit Management Platform, all measurement and sizing information is stored under the client’s account, with no sharing with suppliers, manufacturers, or third parties. For environments where connectivity or privacy requirements demand it, we offer an offline iOS application that operates entirely under the organisation’s control.

Where We Are, and Where We Are Going

Since our launch, we have deployed across workwear, uniforms, corporate clothing, and medical compression therapy applications. Our clients include organisations operating in complex, multi-country environments where consistent, scalable measurement has a direct impact on procurement efficiency and wearer satisfaction.

In 2026, we are preparing a large-scale rollout of our 3D Virtual Try-On solution, which builds on Esenca’s core measurement technology by combining our generated 3D avatars, precise body measurements, and digitised garments to deliver a complete pre-purchase fitting experience powered by our in-house physics engine. This extends our existing pipeline from measurement extraction and 3D model generation into realistic garment simulation on the user’s body.

At the same time, we are introducing a major upgrade to our body measurement solutions, significantly expanding the range of deployment scenarios our platform can support, from lightweight integrations to more advanced, high-precision implementations tailored to different operational needs.

Our focus remains the same as it did in 2020: building measurement infrastructure that professional apparel organisations can actually rely on—complete, scalable, and built to meet the realities of how large workforces are managed.
