Because we live in a disruptive world where traditional businesses are upended by new startups, NAUMD is undertaking a strategic look at itself. The Board of Directors at its April 7th meeting moved to develop a new mission statement. The board recognizes that during the past decade companies that participate in our industry are nontraditional providers of image apparel, uniforms and equipment. We see office supply companies distributing corporate wearables and consumer outdoor companies selling police supplies and uniforms. The board determined to target new membership by looking at business in new market segments that participate in industry market sectors.
During the same meeting, the board from the National Association of Police Equipment and Distributors (NAPED) put forward a proposal to merge NAPED into NAUMD. Based on the success of the joint New Orleans convention both groups agreed to undertake a due diligent process for the merger.
In June NAUMD will begin a membership engagement drive that will embrace the new mission statement and enhance the value proposition. Dues statements for existing members will be sent out at the same time. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the NAUMD office with questions.
