Amanda McLaren has been appointed new managing director at A W Hainsworth & Sons, the acclaimed Yorkshire woollen mill dedicated to weaving British heritage for over 230 years including cloth for apparel, costume and interiors.
Amanda McLaren is an accomplished executive board director with prior experience at Halifax-based company James Heal. She will support the executive director team at AW Hainsworth with the running of the business, with her appointment following on from the formation of the Family Council and the appointment of Andrew Wright as non-executive chairman in 2018.
The last year was equally challenging for A W Hainsworth as for many other businesses due to COVID-19. Despite this, A W Hainsworth have continued to manufacture throughout to support their customers, suppliers, and the local community. This highly respected business has a good platform to grow in greater strength in the coming years.
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining the prestigious AW Hainsworth, in the capacity of managing director, working within a very experienced and driven executive director team. I am excited to be able to take the reins and help the team to fully explore and achieve its strategic growth objectives,” says Amanda McLaren.
“With sustainability at the heart of the company’s core objectives and my natural passion for the Textile Sector, I am confident the business can build on its current platform and provide an exciting and strong future, for the family, stakeholders’ and employees alike.”
AW Hainsworth has been crafting woollen cloth in Yorkshire since its inception in 1783. Hainsworth fabric has clothed royalty and the military for full-dress ceremonial occasions and has embellished and enriched the furnishings of palaces across the world.
