Rajesh Pratap Singh to create first global sustainable ethnic style collection

Prestigious Indian fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh and global sustainable fibre brand TENCEL are working together to present an eco-collection for Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018.

For the first time, the designer will create an Indian ethnic style collection with womenswear and menswear, the initial look of which was uncovered at an exclusive preview facilitated at MASQUE in Mumbai last night.

The designer is utilising an assortment of TENCEL yarns and fabrics for his collection ‘Welcome to the Jungle TENCEL 2.0’ and will incorporate famous Indian artworks, for example, Chanderi, Benarasi, Jamdani, hand-block prints and that’s just the beginning.

“Super excited to make an important contribution. I truly believe that sustainability isn’t niche driven fashion. It must be comprehensive and have a more extensive target,” Singh said in a statement.

Austrian organization Lenzing’s TENCEL branded lyocell filaments are extracted from natural crude wood which originates from environmentally responsible forests in Europe.

The fibre acquires the eco-friendly label to its innovative closed loop production system This exceptional procedure got the European Award for the Environment from the European Union.

“We are to collaborate with Rajesh Pratap Singh and Lakme Fashion Week who are at the forefront of conscious clothing development. Through the most recent Welcome to the Jungle TENCEL 2.0 accumulation by RPS, we are looking to provide the mainstream audience with discerning taste with an alternative,” said Vineet Singhal, SVP (Regional CEO), Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA), Lenzing AG.

LFW Winter/Festive 2018 is to occur from 22nd to 26th August in Mumbai.
