The Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCIAW®) is delighted to congratulate Board Member Natalie Wilson on receiving the BSI Impact Award for Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
The award recognises Natalie’s outstanding contribution to the development of BS 30417, the groundbreaking British Standard for inclusive personal protective equipment (PPE), and her leadership in driving meaningful change across workplace safety and accessibility.
Presented as part of the BSI Standards Makers Awards, the BSI Impact Awards celebrate individuals whose work through standards has delivered measurable impact for society, industry, and the wider economy. The Health, Safety & Wellbeing category recognises those whose contributions have made a significant difference to people’s physical and mental well-being through effective risk management and safety practices.
Natalie was recognised for her leadership of BS 30417, a landmark standard that is already influencing industry practice, informing government discussions, and shaping international standards development. The standard addresses long-standing challenges surrounding PPE fit and accessibility, helping to ensure that workers of all shapes, sizes, and characteristics have access to equipment that enables them to perform their roles safely and effectively.
Natalie was awarded the BSI Impact Award for Health, Safety & Wellbeing for her Extraordinary and transformative leadership of BS 30417, a landmark British standard that is already shifting industry practice, influencing government agendas, and shaping international standards development.
“It was a huge honour to receive this award – especially considering this isn’t just about recognition in PPE standards, but in all British Standards work, across every sector.”
“The award isn’t really about personal recognition, but instead it’s about what this means for the cause you’re fighting for.”
“I want to use the opportunity to highlight how important this issue is for millions of people across the UK and Europe who are unable to perform safely in their current PPE, and who need us all to step up with procurement processes that demand fit-for-form PPE for the entire workforce, product specifications that support inclusive workforces, and more inclusive product standards and test methods.”
