News in the Cotton Industry: The West African Cotton Market

According to the ‘Cotton: World Markets and Trade’ report’, West African (WA) countries, whose main source of income is the export of cotton are becoming the leaders in the sector.
They are surpassing many other countries in productivity.
West African countries which are major cotton producer are Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Senegal, and Togo.

The foreign demand for WA cotton seems to not be a crises, – on the contrary it has been increased over the years. Nowadays, most of the cotton produced by WA countries is exported to Asia or sold to their major consumer, Bangladesh.
