PCIAW® is the trade association for the international professional clothing industry and is committed to advocating for onshoring manufacturing across all our member countries.
As a UK-domiciled organisation, PCIAW® believes it has a duty to advocate for the important role that UK manufacturing of professional clothing and textiles has to offer in both the domestic and international uniform, workwear and PPE markets.
PCIAW® is calling to action all manufacturers in the UK supply chain from garments, fabrics, components and equipment to represent and promote the benefits and the needs of UK manufacturers to ensure the long-term future of supply.

UK professional clothing and textile manufacturers can give benefit through their ability to offer the security of supply in the face of geopolitical volatility, coupled with faster lead times. Sourcing UK products can create localised wealth through UK businesses, circulating through regional economies to further employment opportunities and investment.
Plimsoll Publishing Ltd, a leading market analytics company, reports that the UK clothing manufacturing market is valued at £ 10.1 billion, whilst the UK’s PPE manufacturing market is valued at £ 4 billion, proving the significant contribution the industry puts into the UK economy.
In the UK, manufacturers are often overlooked due to non-awareness of the social and economic benefits of UK sourcing, alongside a false representation of what UK or nearshore manufacturing really is.
We want to hear from manufacturers in the professional clothing supply chain
PCIAW® is looking to hear from garment manufacturers of professional clothing that cut, make and trim within a UK-based factory; fabric producers must either weave the textile or otherwise complete the dyeing and finishing processes based in UK facilities.
The UK clothing and textile manufacturing sector is facing many challenges to its long-term viability, and it is of critical importance that PCIAW® brings together key stakeholders to collectively present the case to public and private sector procurement to affect tangible change in policy.
It is a pivotal moment for businesses to come together and collaborate because there will be no solution for ‘next time’.
