César Araújo, President of Portugal’s National Association of Clothing and Apparel Industry (ANIVEC/ APIV) is an esteemed founding member of the PCIAW® Board of Directors, the first UK and worldwide sector-specific trade body. His significant contributions towards furthering the interests of the professional clothing sector have set ANIVEC/ APIV apart as a leading representative of the expansive textiles sector.

ANIVEC / APIV represents the Portuguese clothing and apparel industry with several institutions at national (State, CIP, Unions, Press) and international (IAF, IFTF, Ginetex, Intercolor) levels, uniting diverse manufacturers and distributors from across the country.
Since the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in 1960, which fostered closer economic cooperation and free trade in Europe, the Portuguese textiles sector industry saw a period of great development and expanding innovation. In January 2003, ANIVEC – the National Association of Clothing and Apparel industry, and APIV – the Portuguese Association of Clothing Industry, joined to become ANIVEC/ APIV (National Association of Clothing and Apparel Industry), the most prestigious industrial association in Portugal.
ANIVEC / APIV offers bespoke high-value services in consulting, advisory and informative capacities, led by highly specialised industry professionals with extensive experience in the textiles industry. Representing over 6000 national companies, ANIVEC/ APIV is responsible for more than 3.2 billion Euros in exports.

Launched in 1985, Calvelex was co-founded by César Araújo and Marco Araújo in 1985 with only 20 employees, growing from a small family business to one of the biggest apparel companies in Portugal, with global offices in London, Dublin, Amsterdam and Dalian (China) and clients from all over the world.
The industry giant exports to 40 countries for high-end labels, with a vast centre in northern Portugal with three production units, two logistics centres, 700 employees and an annual capacity to produce 1 million products.
