With the PCIAW® summit drawing nearer, we continue with our look at the wonderful array of speakers who will be addressing it.
Today it’s time to focus on Steve Zalkin.
Steve is president of the North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD).
He has had a passion for the uniform industry his entire professional career. After receiving his Master of Science in Finance in 1985, he started in the uniform industry with a local Omaha distributor.
In 1987 he opened Alamar Uniforms on his own and over the next 30 years, continued to grow the company into stores in three states. In 2016 he sold the company and embarked on chapter two with NAUMD.
Steve had always been active with the organisation, including chairing the Board from 2010 – 2012. Upon selling his company, Steve was approached by the NAUMD board to fill a leadership role.
The rest is history.
Steve is the kind of person who, instead of going for a nice drive is more likely to go for a nice long run. He has completed 13 marathons and numerous half marathons in his running career which he considers his “head” time.
He tackles everything with an “it is what it is, but it will become what you make it” mentality.
