On the 17th July 2020, the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, confirmed that conferences and events will be permitted to be held in the U.K. from 1st October 2020. This news is welcomed by a myriad of industries across the country, all of which have been in lockdown since mid-March.
The Prime Minister did stress that the decision to allow the go-ahead for events would depend on data and that local authorities would have the power to close events should there be issues of public safety.
Events such as our own PCIAW Summit and PCIAW Awards were unfortunately postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The PCIAW® Summit, Networking & Awards will now take place on 23rd-24th March 2021 at the Radisson Blu Edwardian, London Heathrow.
The PCIAW understands the importance of face-to-face interactions and meetings that take place at events such as our Summit and Awards evening. We are delighted that events which can allow for education and networking will be slowly reintroduced to the U.K. and are tremendously looking forward to welcoming our members, non-members and friends back to our events in 2021.
In the meantime, the professional clothing industry has undergone tremendous changes in the last couple of months that have placed substantial strain on all sectors of the industry. To keep the industry informed and educated, the PCIAW, in partnership with Gerber Technology, organised our own Webinar: ‘Manufacturing in the UK – Challenges and Advantages’. With over 150 people in attendance, the webinar covered the most important aspects of UK manufacturing.
