PCIAW member, Seahawk Apparel in Glenrothes, Fife is a manufacturer of specialist protective workwear and PPE for the likes of the oil and gas, petrochemical, emergency services and construction sectors. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the business has responded swiftly to manufacture reusable, non-medical face coverings and protective workwear, including scrubs for NHS staff.
The experienced team of 25, including designers, pattern cutters and sewing machinists was quick to identify the potential to manufacture non-medical, fabric barrier masks or face-coverings, to support Government guidance concerning social distancing in workplaces, supermarkets and on public transport. To date, they have produced over 100,000 reusable, three-ply, polycotton masks to a design endorsed by the BSI.
The fabric face-covering is available in a choice of colours and either adult or child sizes. It’s reusable and washable, making it a sound commercial and environmental choice for larger employers choosing to supply employees with face-coverings as they return to the workplace. Some businesses are even choosing to source in their corporate colours with associated branding. Face-coverings are rapidly becoming the latest addition to a corporate uniform.
