Speaker Announcement: Nisha Muire joins the PCIAW® Summit 2026

The Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCIAW®) is pleased to announce Nisha Muire, Manager of the Uniform Program at Air Canada, as a speaker at the PCIAW® Summit, Exhibition & Awards 2026, taking place at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 21–22 October.

Nisha will bring an airline end-user perspective to the session “From Theory to Pilot: Delivering an End-to-End Digital Product Passport in Airline Uniforms,” taking place from 4:15pm–4:55pm.

Drawing directly from Air Canada’s participation in a recent six-week Digital Product Passport (DPP) pilot, Nisha will share practical insights into taking DPPs from an abstract concept to a usable tool within an active airline uniform programme.

Putting Digital Product Passports into practice

As Manager of the Uniform Program at Air Canada, Nisha works directly with the garments and systems required to support a major airline workforce.

This makes her perspective particularly relevant as the professional clothing industry begins to move beyond conversations about what Digital Product Passports could deliver and towards understanding how they function within real uniform programmes.

During the summer, Air Canada participated in a six-week pilot project that created usable Digital Product Passports for 10 core products from its uniform programme.

For Nisha, the project provided an opportunity to experience DPP implementation from the perspective of an end user and understand how digital product information could be incorporated into the management and procurement of airline uniforms.

From an abstract concept to a tangible tool

Digital Product Passports have been discussed extensively across the textile and apparel industries as organisations prepare for changing regulatory and sustainability requirements.

However, understanding the concept of a DPP and seeing one function within a real product portfolio are two very different experiences.

Air Canada’s participation in the pilot helped transform what Nisha describes as a previously somewhat abstract concept into a tangible and usable tool.

The project provided clearer visibility into areas including product composition, supply-chain transparency, ESG information and compliance requirements, presenting complex product information in a way that could be accessed and understood more easily.

At the PCIAW® Summit, Nisha will share this experience and explore what organisations can learn when they begin applying DPP principles to actual garments rather than considering them solely from a theoretical or regulatory perspective.

Creating greater supply-chain visibility

For large uniform programmes, understanding exactly what goes into a garment and where that product has come from can involve information spread across numerous suppliers, manufacturers and systems.

A Digital Product Passport creates an opportunity to bring this information together.

The pilot demonstrated how DPPs can provide greater visibility into product composition, sourcing and ESG-related data, creating a more accessible picture of the information behind individual uniform products.

For uniform programme managers and procurement teams, having this information readily available has the potential to support stronger decision-making throughout the procurement process.

Rather than sustainability and compliance information being considered only after a product has been selected, relevant data can become part of the information used to evaluate products from the outset.

Supporting procurement and reporting

Nisha’s perspective will also explore how DPPs could support organisations beyond product transparency alone.

The ability to access structured product information can help organisations manage sustainability and regulatory reporting requirements, while providing procurement teams with information that can support purchasing decisions and wider environmental objectives.

This shifts the role of product data from something collected primarily for reporting purposes towards information that can actively contribute to the way products are assessed and managed.

For organisations responsible for large uniform programmes, this could help connect procurement decisions more closely with sustainability ambitions while creating clearer visibility across the lifecycle of garments.

Learning from a real-world airline pilot

A central focus of Nisha’s contribution will be the practical lessons gained through participating in the pilot itself.

Moving from concept to implementation provides organisations with a clearer understanding of what information is available, where data gaps exist and how product information can be presented in a way that is genuinely useful.

The Air Canada pilot also demonstrates how DPP implementation can be tested at a defined scale, with 10 core uniform products providing a practical environment in which to understand the opportunities and challenges involved.

These lessons will provide Summit attendees with an end-user perspective on what happens when Digital Product Passports move beyond discussion and into an operational uniform programme.

The Implementation Phase

Nisha’s contribution directly reflects the theme of the PCIAW® Summit 2026 – “The Implementation Phase.”

As Digital Product Passports move closer to becoming a practical consideration for the textile and professional clothing industries, organisations need to understand not only the regulatory direction but what implementation means for their own products, procurement processes and supply chains.

Air Canada’s experience provides a practical example of that transition, demonstrating how a DPP pilot can create greater clarity around product data while helping organisations understand how the technology could support future procurement, sustainability and reporting requirements.

Nisha Muire will contribute to “From Theory to Pilot: Delivering an End-to-End Digital Product Passport in Airline Uniforms” from 4:15pm–4:55pm at the PCIAW® Summit, Exhibition & Awards 2026.

The event takes place at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London, on 21–22 October 2026.
