Sustainable and circular textile regulations are going to mandate changes in the way textiles – including uniforms, workwear and PPE – are designed, made and recycled.

It is the view of PCIAW® that policy recommendations are being decided with a consideration of the fashion industry, and that the upcoming regulations are overlooking the impact that they will have on professional clothing.

Sustainable Textile Regulations

The PCIAW® Round Table Series on ‘Sustainable Textile Regulations’ will connect the supply chain to share innovation roadmaps for sustainability and circularity progress with the intention to advocate for policy recommendations that would create realistic and stable market conditions for the professional clothing industry.

Professional clothing is designed for longevity, to be worn every day and with a purpose to identify employees and to protect them from the hazards that they face at work. PCIAW® is seeking to determine if, how and when the professional clothing can balance sustainability ‘ecodesign’ requirements with the lifesaving nature of PPE.
