The PCIAW® is pleased to share an exclusive opportunity for Trusted Members to share knowledge on sustainability in the defence sector.

We encourage members to register their interest in order to receive expert insights into the thought processes of procurers in the defence sector, with the chance to collaborate and educate on pilot projects.

The defence sector is now exploring how to implement the circular economy in their use of advanced materials and textiles to reduce their environmental impact, noting that climate change is one of the biggest threats to human life.

Uplift360 – Experts in problem-solving & R&D

PCIAW® will be working with fellow Trusted Member, Uplift360 to facilitate a series of Round Table discussions between the defence procurers and suppliers to understand the challenges to the circular economy and to find the challenges which need to be overcome first.

Uplift360

By using innovative defence-centred processes to make complex materials reusable or recyclable, Uplift360 is working hard to de-risk supply chains, promote self-sufficiency, and find value in material waste. Its group of expert advisors have longstanding experience in venture capital, science and technology, with board-level representation which includes the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Uplift 360 is an innovation and R&D organisation, partnered with the Ministry of Defence and working alongside UKStratCom and Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) to “close the loop – improve the loop – monetise the loop – excite the loop”.

Pushing the boundaries of circularity

Uplift360 is spurring technology development to solve “black holes” in waste to chemically recycle para-aramids and polyethylene. The start-up is accelerating R&D efforts into the sustainability of advanced materials, pushing forward tangible pilot projects to prove the economic and ecological value of waste materials.

Founders of Uplift360, Sam Staincliffe and Jamie Meighan share a technology background in defence and have curated reputations for actively developing global programmes that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
