PCIAW® extends its sincere gratitude to all who attended and contributed to the phenomenal success of the PCIAW® Summit, Exhibition & Awards 2025 in London on 29-30th October.
Your presence, expertise, and dedication made this year’s event a landmark moment for the entire professional clothing value chain, across the uniform, workwear and PPE markets.
Under the central theme of “The Digital Transition,” the Summit highlighted the most urgent transformations and opportunities facing our global industry. We leave the event with a clear mandate for the future, driven by innovation, sustainability, and critically, inclusivity in fit-for-form PPE to ensure no end-user experiences ill-fitting clothing as a barrier to work.

The Future is Now: Digital & Circular Foundations
The discussions across the two days confirmed that the digital transition is not a choice, but a necessity for competitive, ethical, and transparent operations.
- Supply Chain Visibility: From Digital Product Passports (DPP) to advanced traceability tools, the industry is embracing digital solutions to gain full visibility of the textile value chain, ensuring accountability from raw material to end-of-life.
- Optimising Fit-for-Form: Digital sizing technologies, including 3D body scanning, emerged as key enablers for developing truly fit-for-form professional clothing and PPE, optimising design and production processes and reducing waste.
Parallel to this digital shift, the focus on circular business models has intensified. The industry is moving from a linear “take-make-dispose” mindset to a circular one, driven by increasing consumer and regulatory demand.
Expert-led sessions explored chemical textile-to-textile recycling advancements alongside open-loop solutions – turning textile waste into circular construction materials, making recycling technical workwear, simple.
End-of-life security processes were high on the agenda for textile recycling with blockchain traceability improving trust and accountability in the BlockTexx solution, while Greenful Group offered constant video streams for secure end-of-life management for uniforms.
Safety Through Inclusivity: The New Standard for PPE
Perhaps the most significant and emotionally resonant theme of the 2025 event was the crucial importance of fit-for-form PPE and the urgent need for inclusivity across all sectors.
We proudly celebrated the launch and deep dive into the world’s first inclusive PPE standard, BS 30417: Provision of Inclusive PPE – Guide. This pioneering new standard, championed by PCIAW® members, directly addresses the critical failure of historical design practices that centred on a ‘standard’ body model, often leaving a significant portion of the diverse workforce—including women, those of different body shapes, ages, or abilities—unprotected, uncomfortable, or at risk.
The Impact on Workforces:
The standard’s importance cannot be overstated. By focusing on the provision of properly fitting PPE, it provides actionable guidance for organisations to:
- Enhance Safety: Ensure every worker receives gear that offers equal levels of protection and comfort.
- Boost Recruitment & Retention: Signal a genuine commitment to workforce well-being, which is vital for attracting and retaining skilled professionals in key sectors like emergency services, defence, construction, and public services.
- Promote Equality: Bridge the historical gap in safety provision, moving from ‘one-size-fits-all’ to ‘the right-fit-for-all.’
As an association, we are committed to seeing this standard adopted globally to cultivate diverse, healthy, and highly productive workforces everywhere.
PCIAW® is proud to sponsor its parliamentary launch event for the BS 30417: Provision of Inclusive PPE on 12th November at Dover House, Whitehall, London, helping to make this guidance freely accessible to all.
